Fewer than twenty of the hundred-plus firms calling themselves CDPs are worthy of the name, according to a report from Winterberry Group. Alas, they don’t say which twenty. Percolate and Contentful both streamline the mechanics of content creation, but StoryFit just raised $1.75 million to shape the stories themselves. Near as I can tell, the AI-based system acts as a sort of anti-creative director, suggesting changes to script and book ideas that would make them more like past stories that were popular. Sadly, they failed to name it robo-hack.
It’s deal-making time for generative AI model builders and publishers who can provide them with quality data. Germany publishing giant Axel Springer is trading access to its data for Microsoft adtech, AI, and Azure hosting solutions. Meanwhile, The Financial Times has struck a deal with OpenAI to license its content with attribution of summaries and quotes.
