The good news in this Hypeauditor report on influencer marketing is that Instagram fraud rates dropped more than 20% since 2019. The bad news is fraud still impacts 49% of influencers. Perhaps worse still: according to Winterberry Group, 2022 U.S. influencer ad revenue of $7.0 billion is actually higher than ad revenues for U.S. newspapers ($6.3 billion) or magazines ($6.2 billion).
Traffic to ecommerce websites fell 1% year-on-year while ecommerce app sessions rose 13%, according to Similarweb. Shopper experience still needs improvement: 41% of shoppers feel like strangers to their favorite retailers and only 20% see frequent personalization. Convenience is king: 55% say they’d pay more to find the right item without scrolling through several pages of results.
