Marketing agencies owning their own technology goes in and out of style. Today it’s on the upswing and digital marketing agency WebFX has joined the party by acquiring Nutshell, a B2B SMB CRM and email platform. Nutshell will supplement the company’s existing platforms, including a reporting service that it calls a CDP.
The drop in martech and adtech stocks certainly reflects over-all market conditions. But it can’t help that 67% of SMB CMOs are overwhelmed by the volume of marketing data, according to this Adverity survey. The biggest investment barriers are lack of knowledge about using the systems (27%), integration complexity (23%) and adoption (19%).
AI-generated content vendor Jasper just announced a $125 million Series A, which brings its total funding to, um, $125 million. They somehow accrued 70,000 paying customers on their own. They also just launched a browser extension that can make suggestions about pretty much any website text, and text-to-image functionality.
In a follow-up to their January report, the U.K. Competition and Markets Authority raised the number of concerns they have with Privacy Sandbox to 79. Among other issues, they adopted the privacy concerns raised by another U.K. regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office. Google’s recent decision to shift third-party cookie deprecation to next year might mean they saw this coming.
