ChatGPT Creates Fake News Stories by Real Publications

At what point am I permitted to run around the office flapping my arms and shouting “We’re doomed!” Maybe when I learn that ChatGPT isn’t merely presenting falsehoods, but making up fake news articles by real publications to back them up.  Doomed, I tell you!

ChatGPT spells trouble at Samsung

Samsung recently lifted a ban on employee use of OpenAI’s ChatGPT and may regret that now since three employees leaked confidential information while enlisting ChatGPT’s help, in one case by sharing source code, in a second sharing code trying to fix equipment, and in a third to draft meeting notes. ChatGPT captured the sensitive data, which OpenAI can access and use, according to its agreement with users.

Disney and OpenAI Reach Licensing Agreement for Sora

Disney has agreed to license more than 200 characters, costumes, and environments (but not voices or talent likenesses) to OpenAI for Sora, its gen AI video platform. This is highly unusual for Disney, which generally sues AI models for copyright infringement; in fact, it sued Google for that a day before announcing the OpenAI deal. Disney will also invest $1 billion in OpenAI, nicely illustrating how very eager they are to join the AI party.
