EU ePrivacy Rules Could Further Limit Data Gathering

The dust hasn’t settled on GDPR but attention is already turning to the next set of European Union privacy rules, known as ePrivacy. This protects communications and in particular will restrict ability for companies to capture metadata such as location. It also imposes stricter rules on data security. Implementation is being delayed as details are worked out amid lobbying by tech firms, privacy advocates, and others.

LiveRamp Launches Data Quality Scoring Service with Lucid

LiveRamp has announced its own scoring initiative, focused more on quality than lawful consent. Its first partner will be Lucid, which will check data sources against Lucid’s panel of survey respondents. Irony alert: quality measures are becoming available just as the entire notion of buying lists is under attack for privacy reasons.

GrowthLoop and TransUnion Partner to Optimize Audience Reach

GrowthLoop will use TransUnion identity data to improve U.S. consumer match rates on client files sent to advertising media such as Facebook and Google Ads.  The data should also help clients to find matches among records within their files, building more accurate customer profiles.  GrowthLoop calls itself a “composable CDP”, meaning it works with data assembled in external data warehouses.
