In doing so, the car insurance company owned by Berkshire Hathaway, is accused of violating the US federal Driver’s Privacy Protection Act (DPPA) which restricts who has access to Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) records.

Shopify Lets Merchants Offer Amazon Buy with Prime

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer seems to be theory at Shopify, which has just reversed its position and will now allow Shopify merchants to add a Buy with (Amazon) Prime option to their checkout.  The deal is carefully crafted: merchants can use Amazon’s fulfillment capabilities but payments and customer data remain within the Shopify system.  How, or whether, they’ll prevent Amazon from capturing information used to fulfill the purchases is unclear.

Amperity Launches New Lakehouse Offering

Amperity has launched Lakehouse CDP,  which delivers CDP functions within “lakehouse” data stores including Snowflake and Databricks.  Amperity tools for data modeling, data quality, identity resolution, generative AI, segmentation, and performance measurement will send all results to a company’s own lakehouse rather than a separate Amperity-managed database. Modules can be used independently but the real benefit here is that Amperity is one of the few “composable” CDP vendors who offer a complete set of pre-integrated CDP functions.
