CDP mParticle has added an integration to upload mobile app events to Facebook’s advertising platform in real time. This program will save marketers the effort of developing custom data feeds into Facebook. Good to know that Facebook’s other problems haven’t stopped it from finding ways to capture more data.
Salesforce announced Customer 360, which provides a unified view of customer data in its B2C Marketing, Commerce, and Service Clouds. Data will be accessed via API connections without exporting it into a separate CDP-style database. Over at Customer Experience Matrix, David Raab was not impressed.
Sorry to rain on the parade, but we also have a report that security researchers have shown a second-hand Amazon Echo can spy on people. This is so not surprising that we almost handed it over to our Department of the Obvious. Better news: the California legislature has passed a law setting security regulations for Internet of Things devices. This Digital Trends article says the law leaves much to be desired. But it’s a start.
Microsoft has confirmed that Reddit has blocked its Bing search engine from crawling content; Reddit seems to have blocked DuckDuckGo too. Reddit content will still appear in Google search results, but then Google has paid Reddit $60 million to allow it to train its AI models on that content. Reddit says the block has nothing to do with the Google deal: okay.
