Private Internet Access (PIA), a US-based virtual private network (VPN) company has ranked the best to worst US states for privacy. Ranking criteria assessing a variety of factors, including the strength of local privacy laws, requirements placed on business to control data and manage customer privacy, and protections for consumers over their data and over children’s data.
Jordan’s Parliament announces approval of the draft law on personal data protection which was amended by their Senate. The law allows, under supervision of the Central Bank, processing of personal data without informing the person whose data is being processed. It also allows processing of data for purposes the data was collected, but not disclosure to third parties.
A federal judge has blocked passage of a controversial law that would have required parental consent for use of social media for youth as old as 18. The law, which was signed by Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, was deemed “unconstitutionally vague” by the judge in response to a suit brought by NetChoice, an organization whose members include many large tech companies.
In partnership with attention metrics provider Adelaide, The Trade Desk is now offering high attention inventory to advertisers. Attention — often based on reactions of opt-in panels to ads — is now competing with viewability as a valued attribute, and is being used to complement contextual metrics. Attention has been used in the past to test ads once they have been published; now it’s entering the pre-bid space.
