Oracle Marketing Cloud Adds Swrve for Mobile Messsages

Oracle has improved its mobile marketing abilities by integrating with Swrve, a mobile-oriented customer engagement platform. Swrve gathers real-time data from multiple sources and sends behavior-triggered messages on mobile apps. The integration will enable build Swrve messages into Oracle Eloqua customer journeys.

ANA Pushes to Loosen California Privacy Law

When California passed a strong Consumer Privacy Act last year, many expected it would be watered down before taking effect in 2020. So far that hasn’t happened and, with the deadline fast approaching, it seemed the law might keep its teeth. Or not: it turns out that California is still working on regulations to implement the law and, sure enough, the Association of National Advertisers and other groups are lobbying hard to limit its impact. We’ll see if public concerns about privacy can overcome industry pressure. Anybody taking bets?

CDP mParticle Sold to Rokt for $300 Million

CDP mParticle is being acquired by ecommerce platform Rokt for a price of $300 million.  It’s the third acquisition of a leading independent CDP in a little over one month, following Uniphore’s purchase of ActionIQ and Contentstack’s purchase of Lytics. All three buyers offer some type of customer-facing technology; apparently they’ve decided that adding real-time profiles from CDP will give them a competitive edge.  (See this blog post for more analysis.)
