Formerly-in-stealth Panoramic has uncloaked itself as a platform that automatically unifies customer data and then finds insights in the results. It doesn’t sound like the unified data can be accessed by other systems, which would mean Panorama isn’t a CDP. They have raised $35 million in funding.
Salesforce has launched Consumer Goods Cloud and Manufacturing Cloud, each with features tailored to supporting sales reps in their respective industry. Both are part of what the company now positions as its all-encompassing Customer 360 platform, which will also include a proper CDP some day.
Best for last: in what I like to think of as CSI: Obvious Division, a Federal appeals court ruled that LinkedIn can’t block scraping of published member data because people had no expectation of privacy for their public profiles. It’s rather amazing LinkedIn thought they could win with that one.
Procrastinators of the world can throw a party whenever they get around to it: Google has once more pushed back complete third-party cookie deprecation. The new target is “early next year.” Reasons for the delay include concerns expressed by U.K. data regulator Information Commissioner’s Office, an ongoing inquiry by the U.K. Competition and Markets Authority, and widespread discontent in the advertising ecosystem.
