The UK has released a first look at its proposed data protection reforms post-Brexit. The consultation document, “Data: a new direction” invites input until November 19th and provides details on plans to handle data in a pro-growth, pro-business way, that may put it at odds with GDPR. The far-reaching changes, if passed, raise questions about data transfers and flow of information between the EU and UK. Changes under consideration include requiring organizations to run a privacy management program, raising the threshold for breach reporting, and charging for or refusing data subject access requests deemed costly to a company.
