The troubles keep coming for TikTok: days before the Supreme Court hears arguments about the proposed U.S. ban of TikTok and days after Venezuela fined the platform $10 million to compensate victims of viral “challenge videos, the State of Utah has filed a lawsuit claiming TikTok was aware that minors were bypassing age restrictions to consume highly charged sexual content. One the bright side: soon-to-be-President Trump now opposes the ban, which would hurt Trump-supporting financier Jeff Yass.

Digital marketing agency BrandRep has launched an AI-powered keyword generator that analyzes key trends in real time and recommends keywords that will reflect consumer intent. The generator should help businesses raise their online visibility. The tool is designed to appeal to small and medium-sized businesses without big marketing teams and budgets.

Following widespread complaints from users, Instagram has already deleted AI profiles managed by Meta. One main complaint was the inability to block the AI-generated accounts. By the time you read this, Facebook may well have followed suit.

Meta has clarified its previously-announced plans to help users create AI “characters” on Facebook and Instagram.  “They’ll have bios and profile pictures and be able to generate and share content powered by AI on the platform,” said Meta VP of Product (genAI) Connor Hayes.  Because the Internet doesn’t have enough fake users already.

Marketers integrating genAI into their content creation process save 114 minutes weekly (98 hours per year) according to a study by Adobe. They use the time saved to improve work quality (61%), improve work-life balance (49%), and learn new skills (45%). Naturally, Adobe nominates Adobe GenStudio as tool of choice.

AI agents will combine with iPaaS (integration-platform-as-a-service) products to become the central orchestration point for apps in the martech stack. According to Chief Martec Scott Brinker, AI agents can communicate with other software through APIs or by mimicking human interaction (keystrokes, etc.). Vendors such as Salesforce are rushing to promote their own agents for this purpose.

At a pre-holiday strategy meeting, Google CEO Sundar Pichai told employees that ChatGPT “is becoming synonymous to AI the same way Google is to search.” Google is not giving up, however, planning heavy investment in its own Gemini technology.
