Amazon to Charge Sellers for Not Using Its Fulfillment Services

It’s good to be the king. Amazon has decided to charge a 2% fee for members of its Seller Fulfilled Prime program who chose not use Amazon fulfillment services. The fee is on top of the usual Amazon referral fee of 8% to 15%.

Cruise Ordered to Cut San Francisco Robotaxi Fleet After Firetruck Collision

You may recall that robo-taxi services Cruise and Waymo received permission to expand their services in San Franciso last week, despite local opposition. It didn’t take long for that particular chicken to come home to roost: on Friday, the state Department of Motor Vehicles told Cruise to cut in half the number of operational vehicles, following a crash between a passenger-occupied, driverless Cruise car and a fire truck. Cruise complied but still argued its cars are better drivers on average than people.

CDP mParticle Sold to Rokt for $300 Million

CDP mParticle is being acquired by ecommerce platform Rokt for a price of $300 million.  It’s the third acquisition of a leading independent CDP in a little over one month, following Uniphore’s purchase of ActionIQ and Contentstack’s purchase of Lytics. All three buyers offer some type of customer-facing technology; apparently they’ve decided that adding real-time profiles from CDP will give them a competitive edge.  (See this blog post for more analysis.)
