SessionM Raises $23.8 Million with Salesforce Ventures as Lead Investor

Personalization engine (and CDP) SessionM announced $23.8 million in new funding, with Salesforce Ventures as a lead investor. Coming on the heels of Salesforce’s Datorama acquisition last week, it suggests somebody at Salesforce has a new interest in customer data integration. You may also recall that SessionM expanded its own Salesforce integrations last week. Total funding is now $97.3 million.

Most IT Decision Makers Believe Outsiders Can Access Their Networks: Gemalto Survey

More than two-thirds (68%) of IT decision makers believe unauthorized users can access their networks yet 93% would trust their organization to store their personal data, according to this survey from digital security vendor Gemalto. Consumers Eager to Use Mobile Wallets: Vibes Report

Maybe consumers wouldn’t be so eager to adopt smart speakers if their smartphone were less annoying. This study finds that consumers unsubscribe from smartphone messaging mainly because companies send too many messages (57%) and the messages are irrelevant (44%). The authors find that consumers are eager to adopt mobile wallets so long as the wallets are accompanied by coupons and their security is assured. The study is sponsored by Vibes, which sells mobile messaging, notifications, and wallet technologies.

Messaging Apps Are Biggest Enterprise Security Threat: Appthority

No discussion of mobile would be complete without bashing Facebook and other mobile-dominant services. So let’s finish with a report from enterprise mobile threat protection vendor Appthority, which finds that WhatsApp Messenger and Facebook Messenger rare the biggest security threats to enterprises, based on a combination of how widely they’re used and how risky it is to use them. Maybe consumers want to move away from their smartphone for more reasons than inadequate coupons.
