Children’s Privacy: UK agency accuses Apple of underreporting kids’ access to CSAM on their platforms

The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) accused Apple of undercounting (by a longshot) the number of times child sexual abuse material (CSAM) appeared on its platforms in England and Wales in a year. The NSPCC found the number of cases there exceeded more than Apple reported for all other countries combined, and to be far less than reported by big tech peers, Google and Meta.

AI-Powered Nonsense Could Create Distrust of Digital Information: Google

Jamie, Senior Intern at the CDP Institute Department of the Obvious, gleefully reports that Google researchers have found “nefarious” (wicked or criminal) AI-generated content may sow distrust among users. He is impressed with the obviousness of their concern that people may come to be suspicious of content generated by systems that have no ethics and no care for truth vs. falsehood, and that AI could even disturb the “collective understanding of socio-political reality or scientific consensus.”
