Aleo raises $28M and plans launch of new platform

The company provides tools for developers to create systems that do decentralized private computing at scale.  The core technology uses blockchain and zero-knowledge cryptography to let systems process personal data without seeing the data itself.   Company founders include cryptographers, engineers, designers, and researchers from leading Web companies and academic institutions.

IRI Launches Omni-Channel Measurement Tools

There’s apparently some weird competition between IRI and NielsenIQ to use the word “omni”. NielsenIQ’s opener was its Omnishopper announcement, complete with “omni measurement” of the “omni-experience” across the “omnichannel” landscape. (Bonus points for inconsistent spacing and hyphens.) IRI has countered by expanding its “omnichannel measurement capabilities to offer complete coverage of the omnichannel universe with the launch of two new solutions: IRI OmniMarket™ and IRI OmniConsumer™.” That’s four “omnis” in one sentence, NielsenIQ.

Independent Grocer Is First to Deploy Amazon Just Walk Out Technology

Here’s a retail story that doesn’t involve a media network – but don’t worry, it does feature Amazon, AI, and Kansas City.  Independent retailer Community Groceries will be the first non-Amazon company to deploy the Amazon One entry gate and Amazon’s Just Walk Out checkout technology.  Amazon One grants entry after reading your palm or credit card, while Just Walk Out tracks what customers put in their cart and charges for it.  O brave new world.
