Children’s Privacy: Netherlands to bring €2B civil lawsuit against TikTok for violation of children’s rights

An Amsterdam court ruled a Dutch civil class action led by rights groups Take Back Your Privacy (TBYP) and Consumentenbond against TikTok can proceed. Claims are that the Chinese company violated the privacy of 1.5 million children because it illegally collects their personal data – so the suit looks to obtain a minimum of €1,000 per child.

Google Again Delays Third-Party Cookie Deprecation

Procrastinators of the world can throw a party whenever they get around to it: Google has once more pushed back complete third-party cookie deprecation.  The new target is “early next year.” Reasons for the delay include concerns expressed by U.K. data regulator Information Commissioner’s Office, an ongoing inquiry by the U.K. Competition and Markets Authority, and widespread discontent in the advertising ecosystem.
