Consumers Weary of Excess Advertising on Social Media: Hootsuite

If there are two things consumers don’t love about social media, it’s advertising and excessive self-promotion by brands. Hootsuite interviewed over 6,000 consumers in English-speaking markets: While around 60% understand that ads keep social media free, about the same number think there’s too many of them. Among the other prime sins were clickbait and inauthentic content.
