I will note the news is all about self-service, starting with a new machine learning function in Tealium’s AudienceStream CDP. The new feature natively reads data gathered by AudienceStream, creates predictive models, and shares the resulting model scores through Tealium’s integrations. All without anyone writing a single line of code.
WordPress.com parent Automattic has raised a $300 million Series D with Salesforce Ventures as the sole investor. It’s a vote in favor of open source, freemium, and, according to the company, in “the future of work”. Raise you hand if you doubted that work had a future.
Meanwhile, testing platform Optimizely released Performance Edge, which executes experiments at the edge of the network rather than within a user’s browser. This speeds things up, giving average web experiment response times under 50 milliseconds. That’s fast.
Martech keeps taking larger bites out of marketing budgets: 17.3% last year, 19.9% this year, 23.5% next year, and 30.9% five years from now, according to the latest CMO Survey. This despite barely more than half (56.4%) of current tools being used and nearly half (48.8%) of the survey respondents reporting worse-than-expected results. Oddly enough, marketers rate selecting marketing technologies as the thing they do best.
