Apple, Google and advocacy groups collaborate on Bluetooth protection

To address concerns over misuse of Bluetooth location-tracking devices, Apple and Google in cooperation with advocacy and industry groups have drafted specifications for devices such as AirTags and Tile, that would require device compatibility with iOS and Android detection to enable alerts. The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has posted an Internet-Draft which is open for comment for the next three months.

Children’s Privacy: Snapchat’s “My AI” chatbot is intrusive, scary, and hard to turn off

Parents are concerned that “My AI,” a chatbot tied in to ChatGPT, has gone too far in engaging with kids. Designed to feel more human in interactions, some teens that have used “My AI” said they use it for companionship and to get advice. Roku Will Coordinate Ads with Program Plot Points

I vaguely recall a satire where ads were inserted at contextually relevant spots in movies, such as a cellphone ad when ET calls home.  Wait, that’s the example given to explain an utterly serious announcement last week of a new ad placement option from Roku.  “Roku’s artificial intelligence searches the Roku library for iconic plot moments that match a brand’s message and place their ads in real time.”  So horrifying it might just work.
