CBDCs (aka Central Bank Digital Currencies) in your wallet may become the biggest threat to your privacy. Reason is, once financial transactions go digital, our activities can be fully tracked, A new Israeli law that’s about to cap cash transaction size in that country is the newest example of the push to use digital currencies worldwide. To date, more than 90 countries are exploring and expanding use of CBDCs. A newly issued report from Europe’s Central Bank explains the implications and looks at how CBDCs will impact business and privacy. Key Question: Can market forces and resounding demand from consumers for financial privacy ensure a desirable level of CBDC privacy? Absolutely not, this report notes, which is why we need to understand what this is about. Consumers and media experts agree, privacy is key to online marketing

Integral Ad Science’s survey of more than 1100 US consumers and nearly 350 media digital media experts confirmed heightened concerns about privacy in advertising and the need to manage expectations and maximize success. Ninety-nine percent of consumers surveyed agreed online privacy is important when browsing online, but only half felt confident their data was secure. Interestingly 52% placed the onus on themselves for security. Children’s Privacy: Concerned parents bump up against Google’s AI then are accused of abuse

Google flagged two US fathers for child abuse after the parents sent photos to their child’s pediatrician to diagnose their sons’ illnesses.  This raises significant concern, since these are almost certainly not isolated cases and there was no intermediate step provided by Google to be able to check validity before misinformation was shared with authorities.

Yahoo Adds Comscore Brand Safety Filters for CTV

Connected TV, which includes streaming, is cruising towards a 20% share of all TV advertising.  Brand safety concerns are growing right along with it. Yahoo DSP is addressing the problem by integrating Comscore’s Activation product, which offers pre-bid inventory filters based on analysis of program content. The filters will enable fine-grained exclusions that protect brands while leaving more inventory available to advertisers.
