Alibaba and Tencent begin fintech collaboration: will western tech giants join them?

Alibaba and Tencent are looking at how they can integrate their walled gardens to ensure consumers can use services from both platforms at the same time. This comes as China continues its push to rein in domestic big tech. The integration could see Tencent’s super app WeChat payment function made available on Alibaba’s Taobao and Tmall marketplace, while Alibaba could host e-commerce listings on WeChat’s mini programs.

Google Expands India Cloud Services with New Infrastructure

PushAlphabet Inc’s Google is ramping up cloud infrastructure in India with a second cluster of data centres in and around capital New Delhi to meet increasing customer demands in a key growth market, senior company executives said. The new infrastructure will help provide solutions for problems such as disaster recovery within India and ensure low latency for many state-run enterprises in and around New Delhi.

Kenya’s Alfluence closes $1M for its AI-powered influencer marketing Platform

AIfluence is a two-year-old startup with an AI-driven influencer marketing approach to measuring the ROI of influencer marketing campaigns, a challenge faced by Brand teams globally. Today, the company is announcing that it has raised $1 million in seed investment led by Dubai-based EQ2 Ventures. Other investors include Antler East Africa, Oui Capital, ArabyAds and an unnamed European family office.

Place Exchange Raises $20 Million for OOH Ad Sales Platform

I could fill this whole issue with news about Out of Home (OOH) advertising, but won’t.  (You’re welcome.)  However, I will report that OOH supply side platform Place Exchange has just left its home at OOH publisher Intersection, packing its bindle with $20 million in venture funding.  I’ll also sneak in that CUENDE is launching its satellite-image-based traffic measurement system in the U.S., and that Comscore has just signed the GSTV (Gas Station TV) fuel pump network for its own place-based audience measurement product.
