AI-Based Version Tests Yield 68% Lift Over Marketers’ Choices: Persado Study

Persado was using AI to create marketing content when ChatGPT was still learning to sing Daisy. They haven’t had much attention recently but did just release this interesting study that found senior marketers do no better than chance at picking the winner among three possible email subject lines. The key is less that AI generates better content than that Persado tests many alternatives to find which performs best.

Just 29% of Retailers Recognize Customers Across Platforms: CommerceNext Survey

Retailers continue to struggle for access for complete customer data.  A CommerceNext survey of ecommerce managers found that only web analytics (95%), behavior (89%) and email/SMS interactions (83%) are used by more than half the respondents.  Underused sources include loyalty data (47%), point of sale purchases (44%), and customer service interactions (42%). An impressive 64% said they do incrementality testing but many fewer capture customer IDs (46%), do predictive scoring (25%) or attempt ID resolution (22%).

Half of “Citizen Developer” Programs Fail: Webcon Study

Only half the CIOs who have adopted citizen development say it’s worked (14% of 27%), but nearly all the rest (70%) plan to adopt it, according to this Webcon survey.  The study throws fuel on the build vs buy fire by reporting that low-code development is not only faster, cheaper and more flexible than custom development but also than buying packaged (“commercial off-the-shelf”) software.  Or maybe not: the actual questions compare apps built with low-code platforms to “applications built with commercial-off-the-shelf products”, so respondents might have been thinking about packaged... Mortar AI’s most recent version of its SaaS marketing automation platform incorporates features to help small to mid-sized agencies provide clients with AI-driven, automated campaigns that focus on first-party data and can help address challenges related to privacy compliance. The platform uses technology from Microsoft, Adform and LiveRamp and runs on Microsoft’s Azure.

Brazil’s Mimo Live Sales receives capital from Cencosud Ventures

Brazilian live shopping startup Mimo Lives Sales, received funding from Cencosud Ventures, the corporate venture capital unit of Chilean retailer Cencosud, which has supermarkets and retail stores in several countries in the region. The amount of the financing was not disclosed. In Mimo Live Sales, infuencers make their products and services known through the brand’s e-commerce, allowing the audience to add products to the shopping cart in real-time.

Senzai taps into AI optimization to guide LatAm companies to the right customers

There is a huge opportunity of how AI could be implemented into companies in Latin America because they are still focusing on building tools rather than solving problems. Senzai, a start-up, has raised $2 million pre-seed this year. Its   technology focuses on three tools: measuring impact, experimentation and optimization to figure out which customers are likely to respond to certain sales and marketing campaigns so that outcomes improve. The company plans a formal launch at the end of the year.
