We’ve known for a long time robot helpers were in our future. Now, Amazon gives us Astro, who/which will scoot throughout your house, help with things as diverse as elder companionship and checking you don’t burn dinner, and may pick up data you may or may not want it to know.

Apple made big news advocating for privacy, and it’s looking like it made a handsome profit doing so. The Financial Times just reported Apple’s App Store ad business has soared as its new policies cut into profits of Facebook and Google. Florida’s Protecting DNA Privacy Act (the “Act”) went into effect this month, amending Florida’s genetic privacy law and potentially elevating unlawful use of DNA to the level of a felony, up from a misdemeanor minor charge. This will prohibit medical insurers from canceling or denying coverage based on DNA findings, or setting different premiums around genetics.

Customers want brands to make authentication easier, and are tired of password protocols – tracking, upgrading, replacing, and reconfirming. More than 90% would consider using a biometric ID to expedite the process, and 82% would prefer to do business with companies that make verification safe and easy, according to a CMO Council survey.

The second annual Microsoft report on cybercrime has been released, with analysis of cybercrime, supply chain security, hybrid work and disinformation. Microsoft found a significant increase in cyberattacks, particularly from Russia (58%) and attacks on sectors of critical infrastructure soaring. Further, inexpensive attack kits are enabling more attackers, so cooperation of business and government is needed to fight this.

A study from the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA) Network Open reveals more than half adolescent accounts from multiple children’s hospitals allowed inappropriate access to children’s medical records to their parents and guardians. Concerns are that this is not in compliance with federal regulation or state consent laws and also risks teens not trusting that they have confidentiality, so won’t seek care they need.

Investment will be used to broaden into a wider range of verticals.

It will use data licensed from NewsGuard, which is a misinformation ratings service and has been endorsed and integrated by IPG MediaBrands, Omnicom and Publicis, among others.

This will provide more access across a larger amount of business data.
