Introhive Raises $100 Million for Automated CRM

You might think the phrase “CRM automation” is a bit redundant, but apparently it describes CRM systems that automate data entry and analysis. Introhive is one, and just raised a $100 million Series C, bringing total funding to $140 million. The company’s AI can map relationships among contacts at accounts, which coincidentally is a skill that (non-automated?) CRM Salesforce also recently added via Einstein. Can we call it a trend yet?

Precisely Launches Digital Engagement Platform

Data management software vendor Precisely, which just Monday announced acquisition of Winshuttle, is back in the news with a new self-service digital engagement platform called EngageOne Communicate.  This moves them out of the IT department to let business users design and deliver real-time customer interactions.  Channels include personalized interactive video, chatbots, email, SMS, and “dynamic PDFs”, which include barcodes and QR codes.

BigCommerce Adds Data Sharing Solution

E-commerce platform BigCommerce has added Big Open Data Solutions, which lets users send customer, order, and product catalog data to other systems including Google BigQuery and the Twilio Segment CDP. Additional integrations connect with analytics, business intelligence, and personalization systems. The BigQuery integration might let BigCommerce qualify as a CDP in its own right, but it doesn’t seem to collect data from other systems.

Thales’ data security report reveals only 20% of managers feel infrastructure is secure

COVID-19 is having a big impact in data security, with ripple effects from remote working, increased threats, and much more data to manage. This survey of IT teams found only 24% believed they had complete knowledge of where their data was stored, and just 20% felt very prepared to handle risks they were confronting. Additional concerns were around skills gaps, the complexity of managing data in the Cloud, and the increased frequency of breaches.

Google announces client-side encryption for Workspace; Android gets new privacy dashboard; and at the same time, Google FLoC concerns grow

Google has just announced that Workspace, beginning with Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides, will get client-side encryption. About to go into beta testing, this includes providing more granular control along with enhanced phishing and malware protection. Testers of Beta 2 for Android will also be trying out new privacy features. This will include more transparency on apps, including indicating whether a microphone and camera are on, and whether location is being tracked. IT’S THE LAW (06/15/2021)

Colorado is poised to pass the third U.S. state privacy law, pending its governor’s approval. The Colorado Privacy Act, which would come into effect July 2023, specifies that Colorado residents be allowed to opt out of data collection for ad targeting; imposes a duty of care in which companies must obtain consumer consent before collecting or using sensitive data; and,  restricts data controllers from using data other than for purposes for which it was collected.   No right of private action.
