Responding to concern voiced by privacy advocates and customers, Microsoft says its forthcoming Recall feature for Copilot+ PCs will be turned off by default and will require users to use Windows Hello to enable it. Recall will also now have additional layers of protection and encryption.

Privacy laws of Texas, Oregon and Florida come into effect July 1. The data set LAION-5B has been used to scrape the internet and train popular AI tools. Human Rights Watch research has found this includes links to photos of Brazilian children that are identifiable, sometimes including the child’s name, or makes it easily traceable. It also can include when and where the child was when the photo was taken.

It’s a distinct possibility. That’s because behaviors you thought were known only to you (ie. how often you hit the brakes, speed, or check your phone) can be tracked, collected and shared. Some insurers are using the driver profiles to determine rates.

Some home insurers are using drone footage to reassess whether they want to continue the home insurance. In fact, even homeowners with longtime policies have been turned down because of what drone photos showed in terms of house condition or property usage – problem is the photos aren’t always clear.

Opting out can be tough, or in some cases not possible depending on data privacy laws.
