Most Advertisers Expect Industry to Find a Universal Replacement for Third-Party Cookies

Did someone mention replacing third-party cookies? Advertiser Perceptions found that companies are most likely to look for identity solutions based on first -party data (65%), compared with second-party data (51%) and third-party data (31%). A touchingly optimistic 58% expected that the industry would work together to create a universal identifier to replace third-party cookies.

Just 31% of Advertisers Feel The Industry Uses Adtech Effectively

If you’re less confident than most that the ad industry will agree on a universal ID, bear in mind that just 14% of ad professionals told ID Comms that advertisers have a good understanding of how adtech platforms contribute value. Only 31% believe advertisers are using adtech effectively. Of course, they were describing the industry in general and not their personal level of understanding, which most would probably rate much higher.

Demandbase Integrates Engagio to Create Demandbase One

Account Based Marketing vendor Demandbase has integrated its Engagio acquisition to create Demandbase One. Demandbase worked primarily with second and third party data for advertising and Web site personalization, while Engagio worked with first party data for email and orchestration. Scope expansion is all the rage among ABM vendors: you’ll recall that Terminus bought GrowFlare earlier this week and ZoomInfo bought EverString the week before.

FTC Slaps Zoom’s Wrist for Security Failures

Today’s Golden Denture Award for toothless regulation goes to the Federal Trade Commission for not fining Zoom after discovering Zoom didn’t offer end-to-end encryption as promised during the early stages of the current pandemic. The FTC did require that Zoom promise to try harder with steps including an annual risk assessment, vulnerability management program, and blocking use of security credentials it knows have been compromised. My kitten has a sharper bite.
