FingerprintJS, raises $8M for fingerprinting-as-a-service

FingerprintJS gives developers an API that uses system details to create a fingerprint that identifies devices over time without relying on cookies or user consent.  They only authorize use for fraud prevention, since that’s what GDPR and CCPA allow.  The technology enables a high level of ID accuracy and enables authentication of large data sets. The company will use the funds to expand in the enterprise market.

Most Companies Will Expand Ecommerce Personalization This Year: Searchspring Report

Hi, it’s Jamie, Senior Intern at CDP Institute’s Department of the Obvious.  The office is officially closed today but I snuck down from my cot in the attic to write this.  First we have a survey from Searchspring that found online sales grew during 2020 and most companies expect them to grow further in 2021.  Slightly less obvious: 61% will invest in ecommerce personalization this year.

Marketing Is Far From Most Common AI Application: Rackspace Study

Marketing isn’t the only department using AI.  In fact, personalized journeys are the sixth most common use of AI, well behind analytics, optimization and innovation, according to this Rackspace survey of (mostly) IT people.  Automated marketing campaigns ranks even further down the list.  The report finds 82% of companies are still exploring or struggling with AI and most barriers are related to data quality.
